Getting Started
VoiceOtaku runs entirely in your browser. No app download, no account required. All you need is a microphone.
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Browser | A modern browser: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari (latest versions) |
| Microphone | Any built-in or external microphone |
| Connection | A stable internet connection |
| HTTPS | The site must be served over HTTPS for microphone access (already handled for you) |
Your First Call
Step 1 — Open the App
Navigate to the VoiceOtaku web app in your browser. You'll see the main screen with a "Start Call" button.
Step 2 — Allow Microphone Access
When you click Start Call for the first time, your browser will ask for microphone permission. Click Allow.
Tip: If you accidentally denied microphone access, see Microphone Setup to fix it.
Step 3 — Wait in Queue (if needed)
VoiceOtaku handles one caller at a time to give every user the best experience. If someone else is already on a call, you'll see a queue screen showing:
- Your position in line (e.g., "You are #2 in the queue")
- An estimated wait time
Just stay on the page and you'll be connected automatically when it's your turn.
Step 4 — Start Talking
Once connected, the AI is ready. Speak naturally — no special commands needed. For example:
"I'm in the mood for something emotional, like Your Lie in April. What should I watch next?"
"Can you recommend a good action anime with a strong female lead?"
"I just finished Death Note and I need something that'll mess with my head."
Step 5 — Listen to the Recommendation
VoiceOtaku will respond in a natural voice with a tailored recommendation. You'll also see the conversation text appear on screen as you talk.
Step 6 — Ask Follow-ups or End the Call
You can keep the conversation going by asking follow-up questions. When you're done, simply say "goodbye" or "thank you, that's all" and the call will end gracefully.
